Bilbo’s Story—Page 7

Good wins the battle! Frodo makes his way to the top, and…

…The Ring is dropped into the Crack of Doom!

GOOD WINS! GOOD WINS! Wooooooooo!

Shannon congratulates Frodo on a job well done.

"There's nothing to see here! Good was never anywhere near the mountain! Sauron is still firmly in control! Return to your homes!"

Megan becomes the first female Gandalf ever to be victorious.

Bill collected tokens as people made their way through Site H back to the parking lot.

Tim pointed out that, since all three of the other wizards were dead at the end of the game, shouldn't this really be a "Radagast victory?"

Chuck didn't think much of that idea…

After retrieving the car from Rivendell and picking Joe up, it was off to Culvers. Unfortunately, they hadn't known we were coming (A&W had told me they were going to be open, but I guess they got the dates mixed up), so the lines were long, and it took a really long time to get our food. We ended up being there nearly two hours!

This did give us the opportunity to chat with lots of people however, including some of the White Hand who had been AWOL on Mt. Doom. Apparently, there had been so much infighting between the Red Eye and White Hand factions all day (I'd seen some of this first-hand, you'll recall), that the large part of the White Hand decided to leave Mt. Doom to Sauron.

Bondo arrived, wearing the T-shirt I'd given him the day before. On the back, it says, "don't do that."

And Megan was still wearing her tall pointy hat. I tried to explain the origin of the phrase, "I got a tall pointy hat! That's status, boy! Status! You can argue with me, but you can't argue with status!" (It's from the issue of Cerebus the Aardvark that has the first appearance of Elrod the Albino). As with most of my jokes, I guess I'll just have to repeating it until it becomes funny.

The camcorder battery ran out about this time. Joe and I finally got our food, and jetted to Bob's house for the post-game party. As usual, there were slide shows, videos, and gabbing long into the night. And the next morning (afternoon, really), Joe and I drove back to Minnesota. He flew back to Seattle the next day and I returned to my job.

The End
